Position Overview:
Moore Security Solutions is seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician – Level II to support the installation, programming, inspection, and servicing of commercial fire alarm systems. This role is ideal for a technician with solid field experience who can work independently, assist with complex projects, and ensure all systems meet code compliance and client expectations.
Location: Houston, TX and surrounding areas
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, program, test, and service commercial fire alarm systems
- Perform inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) requirements
- Troubleshoot system issues, including devices, panels, and communication pathways
- Assist with system startups, commissioning, and final acceptance testing
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and general contractors on job progress
- Maintain accurate documentation including inspection reports, service tickets, and as-builts
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal fire codes and safety standards
- Train and support junior technicians when needed
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience working with commercial fire alarm systems
- Strong understanding of NFPA 72 codes and fire alarm system operations
- Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and inspections
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical documents
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- NICET Level II Certification in Fire Alarm Systems (or ability to obtain)
- Experience with major fire alarm manufacturers (e.g., Silent Knight, Notifier, Fire-Lite, Bosch, etc.)
- Texas Fire Alarm License (FAL) or ability to obtain
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification
- Experience working on commercial construction or retrofit projects
